Prurito

Pruritus is a simple and diffuse symptom. Beetween 15 to 20% of the population suffers from pruritus and the most common causes are:
  • Inflammatory dermatological pathologies: atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, scabies, urticaria or insect bites
  • Physiological alterations: xerosis, chronic prurigus, lichen
  • Internal pathologies: diabetes, chronic renal failure, liver diseases, thyreopathies
  • Emotional and psychosomatic factors: stress, sine-matter pruritus
The itching or pruritus begins after skin stimulation, which can trigger a mechanism that leads to the release of mediators that increase the production of Histamine and Serotonin, the latter being responsible for the irrepressible desire to scratch. It is essential to control the release of these mediators in order to control the itching stimulus.
